Follow Your Inner Voice

Today’s topic is near and dear to my heart because hearing my intuitive inner voice often enough through my meditation practice was one of the major reasons that I left my corporate career and started my coaching business today. Through my journey of self-development and self-awareness, I started getting very quiet and reflective, hearing what my higher self had to tell me about what’s next in my life by eliminating and quieting all the noise that was around me at the time.

Through my consistent daily practice of meditation and exercising, I noticed that as I was learning to get quieter and calmer, the inner voice of my intuition started getting louder and clearer. It came to the point that I could not ignore my calling anymore. It kept telling me that I was meant for something bigger, and that I needed to change and go in a different direction. That direction was to venture out on my bigger mission in helping more people through self-discovery and development journey as I had done for myself all those years prior.

In practicality, an exercise that I used when I would like to access this inner voice and intuition for any small or big decisions in my life, is to sit in a quiet spot and take three deep breaths to calm and settle my mind. Be present in my body and pay attention to my body’s very first involuntary reaction. I ask myself, “Does saying yes to this make me feel expansive or contractive? Does saying yes to this make me feel open and airy, filled with feelings of joy and excitement or tense heaviness and dread?” Pay attention to whether something inside of you retreats or shuts off. You want to remove logical thinking out of this exercise and strictly pay attention to your feelings within the nanosecond of asking the question. This is the best piece of advice that I have applied to my life from Mari Forleo’s book, “Everything is Figureoutable.” As I mentioned before, I highly recommend this book. If you’ve read it, leave a comment so we can discuss!

By practicing this exercise consistently, every time you need to make decisions small or big that can have an impact in the direction of where life takes you, you will be equipped with the most free accessible wisdom that you will ever need. You will always know what you need at that point in time and always the right answer for you. This will eliminate the need to go to other people for validation or for a particular problem of opportunity.

The problem about going to others for advice is that they will tell you what you should do from their perspective and view of the world. It might work for them, but it may not always be the best thing for you. So go and listen to your own best friend: your intuition.

Go home and practice this short by powerful exercise every time you need to access your inner wisdom for answers.
